One of the easiest ways to create extra work for yourself is by building workflows around specific people.
It might work perfectly today, but people get promoted, change departments, go on leave, or leave the company altogether.
A few small decisions during development can save hours of updating later.
Here are two WWDD tips I recommend to almost every customer.
💧 Assign tasks to Groups, not individuals.
Even if there’s only one CFO today, create a CFO group, add the CFO user to it, and assign the task to the group.
When the person changes, you update one group instead of every workflow that references them.
Small change, with a huge payoff.
💧 Keep your roles and permissions simple.
Instead of creating lots of overlapping roles with slight differences, build a few well-defined roles that are easy to understand and maintain.
The simpler your permissions are, the easier they are to troubleshoot when someone can’t access what they need.
🤔 What Would Danielle Do?
Build for the organization you will have a year from now, not the one you have today.
Future you will thank you.
